Non-Day One Operations Professionals
Just saw the change in FAQ's on registering Operations Professionals. If you bring someone on or newly designate someone OpProf AFTER 10-17-11, and you register the person BY 12-16-11, that person has until April 14, 2012 to pass the 99 or a qualifying exam. These folks are referred to as "non-day one professionals." (In other words, they weren't doing something that met 'day one prof.' criteria as of Oct.17, 2011.)
When you make the filing for such a person, the system will open up a testing window that ends 10-17-12...BUT THAT'S A LIE! CRD doesn't care if the person does not meet the April 14 deadline, but YOU, the firm, have to care. You have to monitor the testing schedule of any non-day one prof's who register by 12-16-11 and make sure they pass their tests by 4-14-12. The 10-17-11 end date on their CRD exam screens will be untrue.
Any non-day one prof's who are registered after 12-16-11 will have the usual 120 testing window. CRD will happily reflect that (i.e., they won't display a misleading end date, as in the other instance).
